Our Projects & Impact
Transforming compassion into action through targeted programs that address real community needs.
Programs That Create Lasting Change
At the ABAW Foundation, every project is designed with purpose and executed with care. We focus on initiatives that address critical needs in Oakville, from food security to social connection, ensuring that our community members have the support they need to thrive.
Below, you'll find detailed information about our active programs, their impact, and how you can get involved in making a difference.
Oakville Food Security Initiative
Our flagship Food Security Initiative partners with local food banks, community gardens, and grocery retailers to ensure that no family in Oakville goes hungry. We coordinate monthly food drives, provide emergency food hampers, and offer nutrition education to promote long-term health.
Monthly Food Drives: Community members donate non-perishable items which we sort and distribute to families in need every month.
Emergency Hampers: Immediate assistance available for families facing sudden financial hardship or unexpected crises.
Nutrition Education: Workshops on meal planning, healthy eating on a budget, and food preservation techniques.
Youth Empowerment & Mentorship
Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our Youth Empowerment Program provides educational resources, one-on-one mentorship, tutoring services, and enriching after-school activities for children from low-income families across Oakville.
Academic Tutoring: Free tutoring in math, science, and literacy from qualified volunteers and retired teachers.
Mentorship Matching: Long-term mentorship relationships that build confidence, goal-setting skills, and life competencies.
Skills Workshops: Computer literacy, public speaking, creative arts, and STEM activities to broaden horizons.
Winter Warmth Campaign
Canadian winters are unforgiving, and proper clothing is essential for health and safety. Our annual Winter Warmth Campaign collects, cleans, and distributes winter coats, boots, scarves, gloves, and blankets to vulnerable populations including seniors, children, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Coat Drives: Annual collection drives at local schools, businesses, and community centers throughout October and November.
Professional Cleaning: All donated items are professionally cleaned and quality-checked before distribution.
Dignified Distribution: Recipients can choose items that fit and suit their preferences in a respectful, store-like environment.
